What Is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT, is an evidence-based, gold-standard treatment that has been used with great success to address emotional, behavioral and interpersonal problems.  CBT treatments involve teaching clients to modify problematic patterns of thinking (cognitions) and behavior that serve to perpetuate things like depression, anxiety, and substance abuse.

CBT therapy is focused and dynamic and assumes that the client can become skilled in the techniques learned in therapy in order to regain a balance in life.

At Front Range CBT you will learn skills to manage your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. You will have opportunities to practice these skills both during and in-between sessions. Our goal will be for you to adapt these skills to your life so you can rediscover the real you, or so you can discover the real you for the first time.

Because I believe in providing the most flexible and customized treatment plans for our clients, we collectively choose to incorporate other evidence-based therapies with roots in CBT. After your initial consultation we will collaboratively create a treatment plan that may also include elements of:

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MBCT)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)
